Taking your Cadillac in for Repair to the Dealer

While most people would certainly hope that their Cadillac would never need to go back to the dealer for any type of repair, the truth is that with any car, Cadillacs included there may over time be mechanical issues that need attention for either repair or replacement. To make sure that the visit to the dealer goes as quickly and smoothly as possible in order that you may have your Cadillac back on the road again, read on for details .

First, it is important to understand that although the Cadillac dealer carries the Cadillac insignia they are not actually an employee of Cadillac. All Cadillac dealers are independently owned and operated, a franchise and as such it is their job to earn an income by selling new car and repairing cars that have already been sold. There are a few things you can do; however, to make sure the process goes smoothly.

First, always make sure that your car is cleaned before you take it in to the dealer for any type of repair or maintenance. This will provide the impression the car is well maintained and taken care of and also that you are detail-oriented, thus increasing the chances that the mechanic handling the repair of your car will provide that little extra attention to detail as well.

While taking your car, especially your Cadillac, in to be repaired and be a frustrating process it is important to make sure that you are always courteous to the personnel at the dealer. Make sure, too, that you are always clear about what needs to be done and any requests that you may have. You might even ask that the person receiving the car when you drop it off at the service department makes a point to write down these details so there is no misunderstanding about them later.

Rather than just dropping your Cadillac off to the dealer for repair or maintenance, do take the time to call ahead and make an appointment. In fact, it can be a good idea to speak with the salesman who sold you the car and have them make the appointment with the service department for you.

Make a point to keep all receipts and documents related to the repair and maintenance of your Cadillac. You might even want to keep this documentation in a well organized binder.

If you have noticed that your car is having some problems, be sure to write down detailed notes regarding those problems so that you can speak to the service department about them in detail when you take your Cadillac in for repair or maintenance. Providing as much detail as possible about the problem, particularly when and where it occurred, can help the service department isolate the problem and repair it much more accurately and quickly.

If for some reason you are not able to speak with the service department when you drop off the car, be sure to leave the notes regarding the problems the car is having on the dash of the car. This can be tremendously helpful as the mechanic often has problems duplicating the problems the owner describes.

Be sure to stay in contact with the service department regarding the repairs that are needed and the costs involved if the vehicle is not still covered under warranty.

Taking the time to understand these tips and guidelines, provide as much detailed information as you know about any problems your car is experiencing and stay in contact with the service department can ensure your Cadillac is repaired properly and promptly.
